Collaboration with Australia’s leading theater company “Dead Puppet Society” and Kosei Ono has been realized!
Bilingual Actor Kosei’s Valuable Experience
Hey everyone! Kosei here, your friendly neighborhood bilingual actor. I recently got the amazing opportunity to work with the renowned Australian theater company Dead Puppet Society on adapting Kenji Miyazawa’s classic novel “Night on the Galactic Railroad” into an English stage play!

On May 2nd and 3rd, we had a two-day workshop where we did read-throughs of the script and even acted out some scenes. As a bilingual actor, I was able to provide a unique perspective, considering the cultural gap between the original Japanese context and how it would resonate with overseas audiences.
By actually performing the script, we could identify areas that didn’t quite land and needed some tweaking. Going through this process of giving feedback and revisions really helped elevate the script to the next level. The final stage production isn’t scheduled until 4 years from now, but I’m already super excited!
I feel so energized to be part of such an internationally-minded project like this. Translating a Japanese literary classic into English is the perfect challenge that allows me to flex my bilingual skills, you know?
